This Is Me...
I am a head in the clouds, swim with the mermaids, feel the nostalgia, drink in the wild air, creative. I like to take those experiences and put them into my work. I typically have a different approach or an outside of the box thought process. I am a professional but I am also a creative - sometimes I wear all black and sometimes I wear a floral rainbow with stripes. I find simplicity to be a wonderful thing and always look for beauty, even in the mundane. I enjoy bringing human experiences and feelings together with nature and spirituality to create art, but more than that, to create something to feel and be a part of. I am almost optimist to a fault and a quieter, gentle soul. When I have an idea, I’ll speak up, but I don’t enjoy talking for talking sake. I hope to always be learning and improving, not just creatively, but in all aspects of life. I enjoy experiencing other cultures, loving people, seeing and learning history, looking after Mother Earth, painting, taking photos, making movies, capturing the raw, the planned and unplanned, the unexplored, the easy, the exciting, the mundane, the difficult. I definitely don’t come at life in the typical “American dream” sort of way. For one thing, I live on a sailboat and a couple years ago spent most of the year living in the woods, hiking 800 miles of the Appalachian Trail. I have been a nomad ever since.
Career Goals
I would like to continue growing the skills I have – I think there is always more to learn. I am particularly interested in getting better at photography, filmmaking, post production film editing, painting with different mediums, and drawing. I am also looking for ways to have my art coincide with causes I am passionate about – like taking care of Mother Earth, spreading awareness about pollution & plastic usage, equality, sharing positivity & kindness, and mental health. Lately, I have been very interested in playing with different artistic styles – sort of on a quest to find where my art fits in the world and how I want it to look. I would like to start taking courses on Skillshare (or something similar) to expand on existing talents, learn some new ones, better myself, learn more about utilizing social media, business skills, and marketing.
Work Bio
I am mostly a graphic designer, typically making bold, simple designs. However, I don’t like to be put into a graphic design box because I enjoy a lot of creative outlets and want to pursue and better myself in many of the ones that interest me. I also paint, draw, illustrate, photograph, web design, and film. I enjoy dabbling in different artistic styles because I think it helps me learn. I infuse my art with things from my life, travels, experiences, and inspiration to help give my art more feeling. Some projects I have done, for individuals, include wedding/birthday invitations, t-shirt design, poster artwork, pregnancy photographs, blog websites, and birth photographs & films. For businesses I have created logos, labels, posters, banners, t-shirts, stickers, social media banners/images, websites, educational brochures, and vinyl decals (for boats, cars, and sports team clothing).
Skills
I am creative and detail oriented. I like to keep my projects organized. I have no problem working on a few projects at the same time and bouncing between them – this is my typical way of working. Most of my work is done on a computer so I am very comfortable with and good at using computers – PC or MAC. I don’t have all of the tech-speak down but I can play with camera settings to get my preferred out come. From there I enjoy playing with images, in Lightroom or occasionally in Photoshop, to reach a desired look or match a theme. I am extremely confident using Illustrator; it is my go-to creative program. I also use quite a few of the Adobe Creative Suite programs, as well as, Procreate. I have built several WordPress websites and I am confident in that process. I have come along a few businesses just starting out, or looking to change up their look, and helped them by designing their logo(s), planning out their brand’s colour scheme, and creating various social banners; all with a cohesive look.
